Welcome to the Homestead!

Hey friends! I'm so glad you are here. Let me bring you in to our neck of the back woods.

My name is Ashley. I was born and raised in Western Washington and that is where I met my husband and we started our family. But in the spring of 2020 God did something we didn't expect; moved us to Idaho! Our dream was to save up and eventually buy property and build a log home on it. We knew it would take many many years to be able to afford doing that in Washington due to how expensive life is over there. So we had that good ole' 10-15 year plan of saving up for that dream homestead.

Then one day in early March 2020 my husband and I looked and each other and said, "have you ever thought about Idaho?". The other chuckled and replied, "I don't really know anything about Idaho except that they grow potatoes." We both felt really curious and naturally started googling "Idaho". One thing lead to another and eventually we started perusing the housing market and to our surprise discover that (at that time) we could afford our dream property with an already built, turn-key log cabin. "Okay," we said, "let's plan a trip over there just to look in a few weeks." Well after sleeping on it for a night we decided we had to go that very weekend. Long story made short we put an offer on our dream that weekend and were moved in by May!

So much has happened since May of 2020! We've gotten chickens, we've gardened, we've raised pigs, chickens and turkeys for meat. We've grown our family to include two amazing kids, three dogs, four cats and a pair of geese. We have been connected with an amazing community of Christ followers who we are honored to call family. We continue to learn more about hunting, preserving food, gardening, natural living, parenting, and so much more.

I hope to bring you along to be encouraged, to help you learn a thing or two and hopefully learn from you as well. I pray that what we have to share glorifies God and uplifts you. Wherever you are and however you found us I want to give you a hearty, "Welcome to the homestead!".
